Real Talk
We are going to talk about healthy eating.
It's not easy to eat healthy. But what is it exactly that makes it so damn difficult?
Well let me tell ya....
It's not the endless meal planning on a tight budget. Okay, maybe that's part if it.
It's not the trips to the multiple stores to grocery shop because of the stupid strict budget. Yea, that might be a part of it too.
It's not the recipe ruts that we find ourselves in. Well, that could be piece of it.....
It's not the all time consuming prepping and chopping. Okay, maybe it's a little of that.
It's the ENDLESS SINK OF FREAKING DISHES.
It never stops. They are always there. Looming. You wash them, you put them away, and those little buggers somehow make their way back in there.
It's a vicious cycle.
In all seriousness. Well, my loathing of dishes is serious, but it really isn't easy to eat healthy. It's no secret that losing weight gets harder as you get older. As a woman, it's even harder because hormones tend to wreak havoc. You find that what worked before no longer works. And then, when you try to do research on how to approach weight loss for a woman pushing 50, you come across all these quacks that try to give you full proof methods. You've seen the ads. "I'm a well respected doctor that has found the key and now if you watch this long video, I can give you the secret if you click on this link that brings you to another video that is basically an advertisement for my expensive new pill that I have concocted that will solve all your problems."
I mean, for the love.
I struggle with time. Time to cook, time to shop, time to prep. But prepping and planning is the key. I need fast and quick, but fast and quick is usually not healthy. Things like Hello Fresh don't work for me. You still have to chop and cook it and you need the time to chop and cook it. Plus those things are usually pretty high in fat and sodium. I've looked into some pre-prepped and packaged meal services that looked promising, but man o man they are expensive.
So what is a girl to do? Besides all the dishes??
It's a puzzle. It's a struggle. I really am trying to figure it all out.
It's one of my main obstacles to turning this thing around.
I have a new cookbook coming with quick-to-make healthy meals.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!
